Is Taiwan’s education reform suitable for the needs of students and industrial development?
Taiwan’s education authorities pointed out that the law does not require that the curriculum must be revised every 10 years. “There is no 118 curriculum.” Currently, it is still based on the 108 curriculum. It is the consensus of the academic community that AI and information education need to keep pace with the times. Dr. Tsai conducted a month’s research at the Institute of Chinese Education and found that the Institute seemed to be reforming for the sake of reform, and there seemed to be room for improvement among lecturers and curriculum reformers. From the 108 curriculum to the present, the original talent cultivation image of the curriculum seems to have not changed, including emphasis on independent learning, interaction, social participation, and reading education…etc.
These are the issues that worry parents and Chinese people. Dr. Tsai believes that at this stage, the most important thing is to let parents, students and teachers feel at ease to take root in learning and teaching work, and not to dance with the show of local leaders; therefore, do not change the curriculum and add technology. Changes such as AI’s updated information and knowledge continue to provide young students with better learning guidance. Looking at the special courses of Tuankan 108 curriculum, it is very meaningful to use AI and other intelligence to record in-depth interactions with the elderly and their hometown environment through video recording and street interviews.
Dr. Tsai also suggested that the implementation of education policies should keep pace with the times and take into account both quality and quantity. He hopes that the new government will pragmatically face the education problems of weakening technical vocational skills and uneven resource distribution.
In addition, the Taiwan authorities have previously called for the establishment of high schools and universities in the hope of freeing children from the pressure of studying for higher education.
